Wooden stiles replaced with gates as part of the Herefordshire Trail upgrade.

The Herefordshire Trail passes through Upton Bishop Parish and many of the wooden stiles along this public footpath have recently been replaced with self closing metal or wooden gates to improve accessibility along the trail.  This project was sponsored by the Wye Valley AONB working in partnership Ross on Wye Walkers are Welcome, with support and assistance from Herefordshire Council Public Rights of Way team, local Parish Footpaths Officer, AONB volunteers and supportive landowners.     A thank you to all those involved.

Please remember The Countryside Code.  Respect. Protect. Enjoy.

New gate on UB22 – January 2022

The footpath, UB22 off Tan House Road has a new pedestrian gate which is accessible in the hedgeline just up from the locked gate.  This has been made possible thanks to the new landowner who has been supportive in facilitating the improvement.

New style on UB 11 – January 2022

The upper stile on the hedgerow bank on the footpath between Felhampton and the M50 underpass / Hartleton Water was reported broken.  With the consent of the landowner the stile has now been replaced with a post marked footpath gap, an additional step has been installed.

A big thank you to footpaths officer, Andy Parr and Parish Council chairman, Keith Cornwall for putting in this new style on the footpath that runs between Manor House Road and the B4221 near Hill Top.

Repairs to UB 11 April 2021

The wooden & earth steps between two stiles on the much used footpath UB11 running from Bromsash/ Felhampton towards Hartleton water and Drummonds Dub had rotted and collapsed so at the weekend the Footpaths Officer replaced the steps with the support of the landowner.

Our thanks go to Andy Parr, the footpaths officer and the landowner.
